As I am sure you have all heard the school district has decided to follow Governor Cox's updated mask mandate. What this means is that starting May 31st masks will not be required for school. This means that our last week of school June 1 to June 3 masks will not be required. However, I do highly encourage everyone to continue wearing their masks for the last two days so we can keep all our friends safe and healthy. I have attached the notice that was emailed out and if you have any questions please email me and I will happily answer them. Thank you for continuing to keep each other safe!!
Message: "Dear Granite District Patrons and Employees, Earlier today, Governor Spencer Cox announced that the statewide mask mandate for K-12 public schools will end on May 31st of the current school year. This also means that all current testing protocols will also end on this date. Our Board of Education and Administration has consistently and diligently adhered to all statewide health orders throughout this pandemic in an effort to ensure our staff and student’s safety. As such, while masks are still recommended and individuals may still choose to wear a mask, they will not be required for the last week of the school year. Attached is a copy of the statewide order. Masks will not be required for summer programming and unless a new statewide order is initiated, will not be required in the fall. A distance learning option (self-paced or live) will still be available to families who request it. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact your school or principal. We express our profound gratitude for your patience, help and support through what has been a very challenging school year. Sincerely, Granite School District" I wanted to give an update on what the next few weeks will look like. Summer vacation is nearing, and we have some fun things planned for the end of the year.
First, we will be having a talent show this year. It will be different than previous years because it will only be with the fourth grade. There is a sign-up sheet in the hallway and students can sign up starting on Monday, and the last day to sign-up will be May 20th. We will have our talent show on May 25th. If students want to perform in a group, they can, or they can perform on their own. Second, we will be having an awards ceremony with the fourth grade. The date for this still needs to be decided but I will update our class calendar when it is decided. You can check the calendar on CALENDAR tab above. Lastly, we will be having some normalcy with the end of the year. We will have our kickball game between the teachers and the fifth grade on May 27th. Field day will be June 1st, so please make sure students are prepared for that. June 2nd will be our yearbook signing day, and our last day of school is June 3rd. The last day of school is a distance learning day, but students will not have their Chromebooks. A quick reminder that this next week we will be taking our end of year science test and the week after that we will be taking our end of year math test. Please make sure your students are getting a good night's rest and eating a healthy breakfast. If you have any questions, please reach out with them! |
