We are getting so excited for summer break but we still have some fun upcoming school activities. We will be having a 4th grade talent show on Friday, May 27th. It is just the 4th grade and we won't be able to have parents attend. Then for the last week of school please remember that there is no school on Monday, May 30th. On Tuesday the 31st we will be having the Cottonwood High seniors come parade through the school in the morning and then get our classroom ready for summer break. Wednesday, June 1st is the second to last day of school and is our field day. In the morning we will be enjoying our Read-A-Thon activity. There will be inflatables and water activities all day so please make sure your student is dressed appropriately. Please remember no swimsuits on field day but students can bring a towel if they would like. Also please remember that students should be wearing closed toed shoes and no flip flops or sandals. The last day of school is June 2nd and it is a short day. We will be having our awards ceremony on this day from 11:00 to 11:30 in the gym. Parents are more than welcome to attend if they would like. This has been a great year and I have truly enjoyed getting to teach your students. I will miss all of them next school year. If you have any questions please just reach out! On this post I have added a summer resource guide. Have a great summer!

Next week we start our RISE end of year tests and will test for the following two weeks. I'm hoping we can test mostly on Wednesday's and Thursday's. I ask that your student is in class on time and ready to test. Please make sure they have a good breakfast and a good night's sleep. If your student will be missing one of these weeks, please let me know if you haven't already.
Also, for next week we will be going on our field trip to the Capitol. We will be going Tuesday, May 3rd, we will leave the school at 10:30 am and return around 1:00 pm. If you signed up to chaperone the field trip, I will send you a separate email with more information about it. Final reminder for next week there will be no school on Friday, May 6th and next week is teacher appreciation week. Since we are reaching the end of our school year I wanted to give some important upcoming dates. May 12th is our Cottonwood Family Night at Cottonwood High School. Students should have brought home a green flyer with information about this. Check their red folders if you did not see it. We will be having a talent show for just the 4th grade. Sign-ups will start May 2nd and the talent show will be May 27th. I will have more information about this later. Field day will be taking place on June 1st and the last day of school is June 2nd. We will be having a 4th grade awards ceremony on June 2nd. I will have more information about that later. It has a been a great year and everyone has been working hard. I am excited to end this year on a high note! If you have any questions for me please just reach out. I hope everyone has a great weekend. A few updates for the start of a new term. Spring break is coming up, it will be from April 4th to April 8th. We will be back to school on April 11th.
We will be having a "Measurement Man" Rendezvous on April 14th from 8:30 to 10:30. For this fun event we will have some activities for students to compete in that will help them review measurement. I am looking for some volunteers to come help run the games, as well as for donations for our trading post. Donations could be snacks, treats, small toys (i.e. bouncy balls, tops, dollar store items). I will be sending out a more formal letter about this event, but I wanted to give a heads up about it before spring break. I also wanted to remind everyone that fourth term is very important. We will be starting our reviews for end of year testing and the first 3 weeks of May we have our RISE tests. Please make sure your student is in class and prepared. If they are going to be absent, please let me know ahead of time so that I can make plans to have them catch up on work or complete make-up tests. If you have any questions please reach out to me. I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend! I just wanted to remind everyone that school tomorrow (Thursday, March 10th) is a full day. We will be getting out of school at 2:55 PM. There is no school Friday, March 11th, so we will be back in class on Monday.
I also wanted to remind everyone that the last day I will accept late/makeup work is Friday, March 18th. Please have your student check their grades and complete any missing assignments. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Just a reminder that Friday is our Drop Everything and Read day! Students can wear their pajama's to school and be comfortable to read. They can also bring a stuffed animal or a pillow to school and a yummy snack/treat to enjoy while they read. We're so excited for our school read-a-thon and to be able to read, read, read! If you have any questions please reach out and ask. Don't forget to have students read all weekend and record it on their orange bookmark. Bookmarks will be due Monday, March 7th. Hello parents/guardians I wanted to give a quick update about some upcoming events. Today I will be sending home a field trip permission slip that needs to be signed and returned by Friday, February 25th. On the note there is permission for two field trips. The first field trip we will be going to the Natural History Museum on March 8th. If you would like to chaperone please sign the appropriate spot on the note. The second field trip will be in May to the Capitol. If you would like to chaperone for that please indicate on the note.
Another thing I wanted to remind everyone of as the end of year approaches. Please keep in mind that May is our testing month. The first three weeks of May we will be doing our SUPER important testing. Please make sure your student is in attendance every day! If you have any questions please let me know. Yesterday report cards were sent home. Please look for the envelope in your students red folder to check their grades from term 2.
Today I will be sending home a yellow note about how to sign up for SEP conferences in February. Conferences will take place February 7th and 8th. February 7th will be a Virtual Conference day and February 8th will be an In-Person Conference day. Please make sure you get signed up for a time and remember that conferences are only 10-minutes long. If you have any questions please reach out to me. Thanks! |
